How it works
- Choose the photo or logo you want as your GitHub avatar.
- Use Horizontal position, Vertical position and Zoom to frame your photo or logo. Toggle Circle preview to check the corners, then select Prepare photo.
- Check the finished preview and actual pixel dimensions. Leave space around a logo or face for a circular display.

Keep a photo or logo clear in a small avatar
The crop starts in the center. Move it with the position sliders and adjust Zoom until the face or logo fits. The circular preview hides the corners for checking; the downloaded JPG remains square.

Why a GitHub avatar looks blurry or crops a logo
A tiny source image becomes softer when enlarged. Check the original dimensions below the crop controls; if the tool warns that your crop will be enlarged, start with a larger original or reduce Zoom. Resizing cannot recover missing detail.
For a wide logo, zooming in removes more of its edges. Keep Zoom at 100% and check the circle before preparing the file. If a logo cannot fit a square crop, use the existing Instagram Without Cropping tool to add padding first, then return here.
